  • Overview

    The Collegium Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is uniquely positioned as the scientific expert/resource regarding Collegium products and therapeutic areas of interest, including support of uniquely differentiated products for acute and chronic pain. MSLs, under the guidance of the Director, Medical Science Liaisons, are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key opinions leaders, and aim to:

    • Support safe and appropriate use of our products through education
    • Gather insights that can help inform business strategy.

    This is a unique opportunity to join a small and highly experienced team that will shape Collegium’s medical strategy towards being the responsible leaders in pain management. The territory for this position includes: Illinois, St Louis, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska



    • Demonstrate expertise and knowledge of products, patient treatment trends, clinical trials, and scientific activities within the chronic pain therapeutic area and continuously update this expertise and knowledge based on training direction and approved resources provided
    • Demonstrate the ability to present approved scientific data of a basic level to Healthcare providers in both group and one-to-one settings in accordance with Company Policies, and applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards
    • Demonstrates listening skills by allowing Healthcare providers to express their opinions and provides appropriate response to unsolicited scientific questions or requests
    • Develops and maintains contacts with external Opinion Leaders to further understand and gain insight into (1) treatment patterns (2) the scientific activities taking place within the Disease Area (3) the needs and interests of Healthcare providers, and (4) the medical needs of patients
    • Contributes, as appropriate, utilizing approved resources to the ongoing medical/scientific disease area and product-specific training of internal customers (sales force, MSL, etc.)
    • Serves as a medical resource for the sales representatives and accurately answers medical question they may have to help them utilize their approved materials and to help them understand therapeutic issues for their background use in accordance with Company Policies, and applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards
    • Certifies against all required compliance training
    • Contributes and promotes a culture of innovation, constructive challenge, team spirit and accountability


    • Advanced degree in medical science (MD, PhD, or PharmD) required
    • Requires a minimum of 2+ years' experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry, or equivalent clinical experience in chronic pain.
    • Ability to translate scientific or clinical data into high quality medical information to help physicians best serve their patients
    • Ability to build credible scientific relationships with KOLs in the pain therapeutic area
    • Effective communication and presentation skills
    • Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills
    • Understanding of FDA regulations, OIG guidance, and Code of Conduct requirements particularly relevant to the MSL function

    Additional experience desired:

    • Knowledge of pain therapeutic area strongly preferred
    • Strong leadership skills
