POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director will lead the Information Technology function. This role will develop and execute the IT and security vision and strategy including defining objectives, leading the operational activities (security, governance, policies, and risk assessment), and ensuring that performed tasks comply with company policies, best industry standards, applicable regulations and support organizational priorities. They will develop and manage the internal capabilities to ensure technology architecture and governance align with strategic business initiatives. They will also collaborate cross-functionally with functional leaders and external vendors to achieve IT and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for IT including network infrastructure, computing hardware, business software, cyber and data security
  • Lead, develop, implement, and manage the IT function including systems and processes to achieve the IT strategy
  • Oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to the overall IT and company strategy
  • Lead and develop IT financial budgets and forecasts to ensure IT projects are delivered on time and within budget; drive disciplined investment decisions, including using total cost of ownership and return on investment analysis to help prioritize the portfolio of projects
  • Assess and manage outsourced service providers and vendors providing daily IT operations support to the business
  • Evaluate and determine a balanced between insourced and outsourced IT service models
  • Lead the information security function across the company to ensure consistent and high-quality information security management to support the business goals
  • Oversee security awareness training programs for all employees, contractors, and approved system users, and establish metrics to measure the effectiveness of this security training program for different audiences
  • Identify and interact with functional areas to ensure consistent application of policies and standards across all technology projects, systems, and services, including privacy, risk management, compliance, and business continuity management
  • Establish and support IT general controls and ensure compliance with industry best practices, SOX, Part 11, GDPR and other relevant regulatory requirements. Provide clear risk mitigating directives for projects with components in IT, including the mandatory application of controls
  • Implement best in class cybersecurity procedures, business community, disaster recovery, IT change management/controls, and IT policy and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 8-10 years of experience in IT, including 5 or more years of experience in leadership roles; experience in Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry preferred
  • Experience in a publicly traded company required, in-depth experience managing SOX-compliant technology environments and systems preferred
  • Substantial experience and expertise in project management with a proven track record to plan, execute and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Proven ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Substantial experience and understanding of selection, deployment, and management of business tools such as ERP, CRM, collaborative work spaces and other systems
  • Proven ability and reputation for customer service, relationship building and partnering with the business and external vendors
  • Experience managing and leading internal and external teams required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to various levels of the organization
