POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Director, Sales Training will lead and direct the sales training team to support training of sales teams and promoted products. This person will also lead the Commercial Leadership Development program to include the Emerging Leaders, Newly promoted Leaders, and the ongoing Leadership training and Development of people leaders within the organization. They will work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders such as Commercial Operations, Sales, Marketing, Market Access & Trade to ensure training alignment with corporate objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Commercial Leadership Development program to include Future Leader, New Leader, and Existing Leadership training and Development
  • Lead and direct the Sales Training team to continually assess, enhance, and update all training programs and curriculums, to include: Pharma Market Knowledge, disease state expertise, product knowledge, new hire training, advanced training, selling skills and coaching models
  • Partner with marketing teams to develop and update programs and training materials for sales force based on current market conditions and new product initiatives
  • Evaluate and update existing programs with an emphasis on improved learner retention, competitive product knowledge and high-performance indicators
  • Conduct and manage the successful onboarding of new Therapeutic Specialists and Regional Sales Managers
  • Identify, select and oversee vendor relationships to deliver appropriate training and commercial effectiveness results
  • Lead the development and direction of nationa sales meetings, agendas, training content and meeting structure
  • Facilitate commercial alignment and input into sales meeting agendas, workshop content and skill practice sessions in collaboration with the sales management team
  • Collaborate and partner with internal, key corporate functions such as legal, marketing, finance, market access, and commercial operations and others to ensure that all training materials are updated, and changes are communicated with the sales force
  • Develop annual training plans, department budgets, goals and development plans that are aligned to Commercial and Organizational needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8-10 years of Pharmaceutical or Life Science experience required including working knowledge of Sales and Marketing functions
  • 2+ years Commercial Training experience with experience managing and leading a sales training team strongly preferred
  • At least 4+ years of people management experience leading high-performance teams
  • Successful selling utilizing a Sales Process/Sales Methodology, Negotiations and Strategic selling models required
