POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Medical Affairs Director, she/he/they will serve as a key member of the Medical Affairs team. The purpose of this position is to lead, implement and execute home office and field-based medical initiatives. The Director interfaces and serves as the strategic liaison with external stakeholders, focusing on provider education and establishing peer-to-peer relationships with KOL, therapeutic experts, and clinicians. The position works under the departmental guidance of Head of Medical Affairs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), researchers, speakers, and Advocacy Organizations
  • Execute Field Medical Plans to meet established tactics, report on deliverables routinely
  • Conduct scientific exchange and education discussion via various platforms, including medical congresses
  • Manage medical literature surveillance, enrichment and timely revision of medical presentations, responses to FAQs and medical information inquiries
  • Serves as therapeutic product lead internally and externally
  • Acts as medical representative on the Materials Review Committee (MRC)
  • Ensure therapeutic and functional area training is completed to maximize field medical effectiveness
  • Along with other Medical Affairs members, oversees collaborative and training initiatives where appropriate
  • Serve as a resource to Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, Scientific Communications, Clinical Operations, and Regulatory where appropriate
  • Work effectively with Commercial, Market Access and Corporate Development leadership to prioritize scientific support needs and to assure appropriate interactions between Therapeutic Specialists and internal staff
  • Ensure that the Medical Affairs organization and projects are compliant with federal regulations, ICH Guidelines, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Coach and mentor others where appropriate, and uphold and consistently demonstrate Collegium’s Core Values
  • Contribute to the medical affairs strategy and translates to functional plans
  • Communicate with strong influence and presence

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required (i.e., MD, PhD, PharmD, etc.)
  • A working knowledge or clinical experience in pain and neuroscience therapeutic area a plus
  • Minimum 5-7 years in the pharmaceutical industry (i.e., Medical Affairs, Scientific Communication, Professional Affairs, Clinical Research, etc.), or equivalent experience in healthcare management experience required
  • Full working knowledge of PhRMA Code and FDA regulations regarding marketing of prescription drug products
  • Experience in the appropriate and compliant exchange of scientific information and management of high functioning Medical Science Liaison teams
  • Experience interacting as a peer with top tier academic researchers, clinicians, and scientists, and maintaining positive KOL relationships with external stakeholders
  • Demonstrates strong presentation skills; coaches and teaches presentation skills to others
  • A thorough understanding of relevant guidance and regulations and requirements including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Regulations, Office of Inspector General (OIG) guidance, and Code of Conduct requirements required
